The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recently published an interesting article entitled “10 Things Small Businesses Should Know About Background Screenings.” The article covered some traditional ground, such as the difficulties posed by the emerging Ban the Box movement. However, the article also offered inspiration for business owners about how hiring practices impact their companies in ways that go beyond “classic” screening considerations.
The author suggested that background screening, when used thoughtfully, can help companies “Stop screening out the bad apples and start hiring the good ones.” It talked about the impact of hiring practices on corporate brands, and the value of imagining who you want to work for you and then pursuing those candidates.
It’s a great article, and we hope you enjoy it. If you don’t have time to read the entire piece, linked above, the NFIB also posted a synopsis, here.
